The European Commission, Health and Consumer Protection Directorate General (DG SANCO) has the pleasure to announce a Workshop on the identification of training needs to control HPAI for Chief Veterinary Officers, Senior Government Officials and other interested representatives of EU Member States, Candidate Countries, ENP, MED and third countries and international organisations involved in HPAI control.
The purpose is to have an interactive workshop on the one hand on the benefits of training programmes related to HPAI control so far, and on the other hand on identification of needs for training and/or assistance activities from countries affected by HPAI or at risk, lessons learned from past activities under the DG Sanco Better Training for Safer Food Programme, and to discuss future activities under the Better Training for Safer Food Programme, and the relation with other international initiatives.
Main Workshop Objectives are to
- review training and/or assistance activities related to HPAI
- exchange experiences of the DG SANCO "Better training for safer food" training programme on the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI)
- make recommendations for future training activities under this programme.
Part of the workshop will be interactive for brainstorming and discussion sessions, with relevant stakeholders to define best practices and lessons learnt and identify the countries most in need of the type of training that DG SANCO can deliver, and their training needs in the fields of fighting Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (both in Member States and Third Countries). To this objective, participants will be asked to be actively involved in advance of the workshop to share their experiences via an electronic questionnaire.
